Terms of Use

Last updated: 16 October 2026

Who we are

Recito is made by Aleksander Morawski, an individual based in Poland ("we", "us"). You can reach us at [email protected].

These terms apply to the Recito app for Mac, its free trial, Recito Pro and this website. By using Recito you agree to them.

Buying Recito Pro

Recito Pro is sold through Dodo Payments, which acts as our reseller and Merchant of Record. Dodo Payments processes the payment, charges any sales tax or VAT that applies and issues your receipt, and its own terms also apply to the purchase.

Recito Pro is a one-time purchase with no subscription. The price is shown on this website and at checkout. After payment, your license key is emailed to the address you gave at checkout.

Your license

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Recito: the free trial on any Mac you own or control, and Recito Pro on one Mac at a time.

You can move Recito Pro to another Mac by deactivating it on the old one. If a Mac has not checked in for 30 days, its place is freed automatically when you activate another Mac.

Recito Pro does not expire and keeps working with the version you have. We publish updates from time to time, but we do not promise any particular update, and a future major version may be sold separately.

What you may not do

You may not:

  • share, sell or publish your license key, or use one key on more Macs than it allows;
  • bypass or tamper with the license checks or the free-trial limit;
  • copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute the app, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
  • use Recito to break the law or to infringe anyone's rights.

License checks

Recito Pro checks your license with our license server when you activate it and about once a week afterwards. It keeps working offline for up to 30 days between checks.

We may revoke a license after its purchase is refunded, or if the key is shared or was obtained fraudulently.

Your books and the audio you create

Your files stay on your Mac. Recito reads them aloud and, with Recito Pro, exports audio for your own use.

You are responsible for having the right to use the books and documents you open, and for how you use the audio you create. Do not distribute recordings of works you have no right to distribute.

Third-party components

Recito includes third-party software and voice models, such as the open-source LAME MP3 encoder, provided under their own licenses, which apply to those components.

Features that use Apple Intelligence depend on your Mac and on Apple's software, and are not available on every Mac.

No warranty

We work hard to make Recito reliable, but it is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no other promises, for example that it is free of errors or suits a particular purpose.

If you are a consumer, this does not limit the rights the law gives you, such as remedies when digital content does not match what was promised.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses or for lost data, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Recito Pro.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for intentional misconduct.

Ending the license

You can stop using Recito at any time. If you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, your license ends and you must stop using Recito Pro.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version. A change never takes away rights you already paid for.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Polish law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim before the courts there.
